The IAVC Grad Forum invites proposals for “flash” presentations of research by current and recent graduate students in visual culture and related fields as part of the IAVC 2016 Conference: THE SOCIAL. Particular attention will be given to research engaging questions of migration, hospitality, art and politics, and ecological transformation across time and space.
We are offering a platform for an open transnational dialogue between artists, writers, cultural workers, activists, and researchers. Proposals for 5 min presentations should be no more than 500 words and submitted by May 20, 2016 to iavcgradforum@gmail.com. Links welcome.
Applicants should also include a short 2-3 sentence biography indicating their university and/or professional affiliations, as well as their special areas of interest in their research and/or cultural practice. They should also include a link to a previous piece of writing, published or unpublished. While we hope that most candidates will be able to present in-person in Boston, accommodations will be made for a selected few who cannot travel to present via a web video submitted to the forum one week before the conference.
