Project Description

Digital Queers is a project that focuses on the role that social media play in re-framing the discourse around gender identities. Is it true that the LGBT community have embraced digital technology more readily and more consciously than other groups? Is this a reflection of specific cultural approaches or is it linked to other factors determined by environmental and social conditions? Is it possible to replicate these models of intervention and pressure that have been successfully adopted in countries like Holland, Great Britain, Canada, United States of America, Spain, Denmark and Sweden and alter oppressive conditions in countries where gender minorities are persecuted?
