Project Description

Art and Economics in a Time of Crisis is one of the research areas and research clusters developed by OCR. In particular, The Museum of Contemporary Cuts (MoCC), a new international museum founded by Lanfranco Aceti, is a platform to exhibit and promote analysis and discourses on the impact that the current economic crisis has on the arts, artists and the creative industries.

Through a series of initiatives and international collaborations, Art and Economics in a Time of Crisis will research the current adoption within the fine arts of corporate exploitative practices as well as alternative practices to engage with and disrupt mainstream aesthetic discourses.

Art and Economics in a Time of Crisis is led by Lanfranco Aceti and Marquard Smith, together with the support of the University of Westminster, Goldsmiths College, the International Association for Visual Culture, Kasa Gallery and Sabanci University.

Currently Lanfranco Aceti is developing a new international refereed publication on art and the economic crisis for the Journal of Visual Culture published by Routledge, to which will contribute a series of international theorists, curators, artists and academics.
